Kara Abella was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Maryland. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Shepherd University. With experience in Northern Virginia that spans seven years, Kara’s background includes working with children with special needs and professional athletes.
A few of her favorite experiences include volunteer work with Feed the Hungry in the Philippines, offering yoga sessions, and the opportunity to turn any situation into a teachable moment. After moving to Northern Virginia in 2011, Kara began studying Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA therapy working with children with autism spectrum disorder. During her free time, Kara was able to babysit and continue her love for working with children. Out of this passion and a desire to assist those in need of excellent child care, Kara has created the KE Agency. serving families in Loudoun and Fairfax counties.
Kara’s drive to serve people of all capabilities lead to training with the Sonia Sumar method, Yoga for the Special Child. Kara has studied with Yoga for the Special Child since 2014, and in 2016 she served as a program staff with the Integral Yoga Academy in Yogaville. During the fall of 2016, Kara become a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Her foundation is in traditional Hatha yoga, completing a Yoga Teacher Training from Be Yoga. The goal of Kara’s teachings is to bring others back to their best self, through a practice that can be used anytime and anywhere.
Earlier in 2016, Kara became a Pure Barre instructor. This low impact workout allows a focus on building the core and whole body strength through high intensity exercises and isometric movements.
Kara enjoys riding her bike on all types of terrain, and especially at the beach. Incredibly grateful for the time she is able to share with her family, Kara often visits her 94 year old grandmother, Edie. Healthy food choices are always a large part of Kara’s life- and she loves to share recipes.
